Inclusivity & Language Statement

At Born to Birth Prenatal, we recognize that families are formed in many different ways.

While much of the educational content in our program discusses pregnancy, labour, birth, and postpartum recovery from a physiological perspective, the term “birth” in Born to Birth Prenatal is not intended to refer only to the physical act of giving birth. It also reflects the profound life transition that occurs when a person or family becomes a parent.

Families may welcome a child through many paths, including:

• Pregnancy and childbirth

• Surrogacy

• Adoption

• Foster care

• Assisted reproductive technologies

• Diverse family structures and identities

We recognize that not all people who become parents physically give birth, and not all people who give birth identify with traditional gender labels. Our language may at times refer to pregnancy or maternal physiology when discussing the biological processes of labour and postpartum recovery, but this is intended for educational clarity, not exclusion.

Born to Birth Prenatal strives to create a respectful, inclusive learning environment for all parents and families, regardless of:

• Gender identity or gender expression

• Sexual orientation

• Family structure

• Path to parenthood

When we speak about “being born as a parent,” we are acknowledging the transformation that occurs as individuals step into the role of caring for a child—something that can happen through many different journeys.

Our goal is simple:

to support every person preparing to welcome a baby into their life with evidence-based education, compassion, and respect.
